Angela Pitts Myammee Calendar

GR 11: Ref. Respomuso - Spa Panticosa (15-9-10)

previous stage

In theory this stage is the continuation of the previous, except that, knowing as I have the knees, I liked it in two days. Likewise for a single day is a little heavy if you are not well prepared (like me) would be 1500 m. of positive and 1100 negative slope at 23 km. pure and simple mountain in the heart of the Pyrenees for excellence, touching several of the most renowned three thousand: Balaitús, Frondellas, Hell, Argualas ...

the day before and saw from the window of the room as I lay ahead: Tebarray is one of the hardest hills of GR 11, almost reach the category of "myth", not drop, since there are just over 500 m. apart from Respomuso, but the slope that leads to it. At first, I thought it was the most obvious saddle between the peak Tebarray (right) and those of full Cantal (left) and Piedrafita, almost hidden behind it

Initially GR scroll down to the junction of the gorges and Full Campoplano Cantal. The reservoir is behind

Respomuso
Respomuso
The shelter is located below the peaks of the Balaitús Frondella and a little further Nearby are the ruins of Piedrafita, if I remember correctly, destroyed years ago by an avalanche

Here the two ravines meet ...

... an oasis of tranquility

But from here go up the ravine touches Cantal Fill up above the ibón the same name

begin to rise, I pace, no hurry ...

Within half an hour reached the full Ibón of Cantal, on which peak Campoplano refect

And meanwhile I become aware of what I have ahead: to trace the quarry until the snow plate is under what seemed the Tebarray Collado. Although not seen here, from the same shelter saw the outline of the way ... So at least, was already warned

meantime, I recreational landscapes: the massif of Balaitús reflected in the Cantal Full Ibón of

I continue to p'arriba, these quarries will make me endless I forward several climbers on the way ... I'm realizing that "it" that I thought the Tebarray Collado (on the snowfield on the right), it seems increasingly insurmountable, and I wonder where I will go to Furthermore

To my left (east) the ridge which connects Piedrafita and Full Cantal

Behind the Balaitús in all its splendor. To see when I'm coming for him ...

At last the mystery is revealed to me, for here had been "disappeared" two mountaineers who had gone before me. Shortly before the wall that closes the circus, right opens a channel that has fabric ... Jose had told me this happened when we met in Canfranc, and kept at that time still a considerable snow paquetón, forcing him to skip this step

The last 60 m. between levels are horrific, I needed a quarter to overcome almost hands ... hence the name comes from the peaks of Hell? But as always in these cases, the reward can not be explained by words Tebarray Collado, 2,760 m. Peeks behind the Sierra de la Partacua, Sallent above

front, is a little walk up to the neck of Hell, which accessed the Peaks of Hell. Below,
Tebarray ibón of

Paro to regain strength, the first leg down is also tricky. After a little walk in the middle of the quarry, carefully not rolling off to lake. The Sierra of the bottom

Partacua

In 10 minutes I stand in the Hell's Neck, 2730 m. Behind Blue Ibone are opened, the reservoir of Bachimaña, Bramatuero circus ... and "That Obscure Object of Desire": Vignemale

Vista

ago: Pico, Collado and Ibón of Tebarray from Hell's Neck

Then comes a laaaaaaargo Ibone descent to Blue ... Entertained by the marble factory and what's left of the glacier of the Hells

The rise on this side do not have anything to envy to which I have done before ... only downhill along better. I hesitated a long time to tackle the Col of signboard, on Bramatuero Circus, to speak directly to the valley of Ara and finish the stage in Bujaruelo, after passing at the foot of Vignemale but in the end decided not to change plans, because they do not know how many hours I have been

About 2400 m. Ibon Azul reached the top, here is the descent from the neck of Hell, Hell on the left and right Piedrafita

The east face of the Hells

It continues to fall, first passing through the Ibón Blue Bottom, and the 2,230 m. you come to detour up to the left port and the circus Panticosa Bramatuero. Here we cross the river to surround the reservoir Bachimaña High, Low Marcadau peaks. If not let me build me a shack on the island ...

After

surround the west, descend to the Lower Reservoir. On the other hand is almost ended Bachimaña shelter, which would replace the House of Stone (then told me that it will not close yet)

Bachimaña Reservoir Dam Under the new shelter just above

But this not over, much remains to be descending. Front opens Brazato Circus, where the GR 11 back down the ravine after Panticosa enterito still 600 m. more

between, the Cascada del Fraile, which drains the reservoir under

Eight hours later, I see the end of the stage very close ...

... but I still enjoy it with another natural wonder ...

... Pine Falls ...

... just before reaching finally Panticosa Spa, but since this is not the destruction they have done, and I refrained from shooting because I see an aberration in the midst of nature

the end, I decided to quit the next stage because the next day was forecast of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The truth is that the weather did me a favor, because he was not put up with me and farts, I arrived at the Stone House destroyed, and after refueling regulatory, some very nice guys (many thanks if you arrive to see this! ) I went down to Panticosa village, where I slept and took the bus the next morning to go back for my car in Biescas.

They told me between the keeper of the shelter and the guys who brought me the moment the House Stone will not close. Appears to have broken the construction that has made the destruction that is now next to what was once the Spa Panticosa much hotel, spa and much much parking, but have had to lower the shade. For now, have mangled this corner of the Pyrenees, but at least it is going to be on private property, which the mountaineers bother too much. So the House will hold a little more
