GR 92 (24): L'Arboç - Ferran (12/04/2006)

previous stage

To circumvent the first section of the Costa Daurada, incredibly built, the GR 92 has to be diverted back into the interior. From Cubelles up Cambrils, few Ricon the coast of Tarragona are saved in a residential continuous. Since the previous stage, the Path of the Mediterranean away from the sea to enter unfamiliar small mountains, bodies of the Catalan pre-coastal mountains, through villages much quieter than its neighboring resorts beachfront

profile and more data

The lack of public transport forced me to make a long journey, about 32 kms. The train goes to l'Arboç, but since there is very bad combination to divide the stage. At least, there is very hilly and very livable.

I return to the foot of the Giralda , but not that of Seville. L'Arboç often overlooked in tourist guides, is a town of step with the N-340 on one side and the route of the AVE and the AP7 to another, but make it worth a visit

Leave the

people in an easterly direction, crossing the railroad tracks. The first section is completely flat, crossing the plain of Penedès. In the far the Talaia of Montmell , "roof" of the district, and saw the same name

fields and vineyards, you can quickly reach Santa Oliva (4.6 km), another nice little town that comes little guides. Alas, once again, I could not stand to visit

Upon exiting, the road crosses the TP-2125 Llorenç Vendrell, and shortly after the Autopista del Mediterráneo. The GR continues among vineyards in the background, Stony Serra, Puig de Sant Antoni and the next destination, Albinyana

At the Riera de la Bisbal we pass the Tomoví Pou, of which drew water at the beginning of last century

And this has been the stream in question ...

I'm going Albinyana approaching, I begin to see the hermitage of Sant Antoni, where the trail climbs

But first we must cross the C-51 (Vendrell-Valls) and urbanization are edging Fish

Entering Albinyana (11.4 km), at the foot of Puig de Sant Antoni, the road begins to climb gently

... and then straightening the alleyways ...

... that will be more steeply out of town, first per track and then by road to reach the hermitage of Sant Antoni de Pàdua

very good view of the entire Penedès and Garraf, right on a clear day would be left Montserrat and Montseny very to the far end

Here also are mountains but they are very high: the serra of Stony and
Papiola

And not far from the sea as backdrop

From the chapel, the GR down a path to go to find a secondary track that deviates from the road that goes from Albinyana; plains; a few hundred meters through the Masia de l'Escausa in ruins ...

... up to a firewall from where you back the hermitage of Sant Antoni, which just passed, and the bottom

Penedès

From here forward 1.3 km . along a track parallel to the firewall completely straight, crossing the Costa del Sanabre. Maybe it's the wind that is much clearer view to the south. Although not clearly seen, got to see the Serra Montsià and Ports de Tortosa, on the border of Castellon and Teruel

Like much of the mountains of Tarragona, has wreaked havoc around the fire. In the background are the hills of Miramar and Riba ...

... prelude to the Mountains of Prades,

even further

Before closing the firewall, it crosses to the left, down a track to hit the small road from Albinyana. We must follow it to the southwest for 1.5 km., To appear in Bonastre

Another quiet streets people

We have to leave the road to Roda de Barà, to deviate a little after a track on the right, between crops and olive groves. Bonastre and left behind

After the road into the forest and passes through a small residential road, from there, the GR is an old Camí Ral, for the average age would be what are now highways. Coll of Gavatx was a strategic move from Penedès and Tarragonès, there lurks behind the city of Tarragona, petrochemicals, Port Aventura, Salou, legions of foreigners, etc.

After a while you run out of becomes the oak forest and scrubland, is passed under the Mas Gibert ...

... and immediately after crossing tracks AVE entered the Pobla de Montornès, where I did not even a picture (I was more concerned with eat up sandwich). The GR is then in a southwesterly direction, passing first through a polygon construction and after the shrine of the Mother of God and the Castell de Montornès

Leaving the polygon along a track, surrounded by olive trees, there is then another way train, for if there is any doubt, this is not the
AVE

line is the old Sant Vicenç Reus, abandoned for years. They could also dismantled the same as having installed it ... I think there was a project to convert it into a greenway

From here, the stage, and much of the next, loses all interest. The GR is going to go for a long section attached to the AP-7, almost worth end of the day to match output to Torredembarra 32 and get the road (there are 2 km. To the entrance of the village and one to the train station). Initially

a km. along the side of the highway, then diverted to the access road to the Riera de Gaia, a few meters until you reach the Castellot ...

... with good views on the latter population and northern Tarragona between, are the bridges abandoned and the old road to the right AVE

The last km. map is another burden, without departing from the highway at any time, perhaps made on the remains of that "Camí Ral." Nearby Torredembarra transport and has more

Ferran Ferran

is undoubtedly the coolest people a day. How small it is, is not even people, is an aggregate of Tarragona. Then I explained that the last mayor who had accepted the aggregate in exchange for the city of Tarragona they do get a bus. And because of that I could catch the train back to the ancient Roman capital

A single street with a dead calm ... nice way to end

Although not if it's worth swallowing the last hour walk along one of the country's busiest highways

From here and to Salou, the GR has very little interest and is dispensable
